New operational depot for the North York Moors Rangers
Client: North York Moors National Park Authority
Location: Helmsley, York
Project: Phase 1 – Refurbishment and redevelopment of existing workshops, stores, garage, and external areas to create a new operational depot for the North York Moors Rangers
Completion Date: February 2026
Project Overview
OGL Construction was appointed as Principal Contractor by the North York Moors National Park Authority to deliver the refurbishment and redevelopment of the Old Print Works site, transforming the existing facilities into a modern operational depot for the North York Moors Ranger Service.
The project involved the comprehensive refurbishment of existing workshops, stores, garage facilities, and surrounding external areas, alongside all associated mechanical and electrical works. The completed redevelopment now provides an upgraded operational base to support the Ranger team, who maintain over 2,300km of Rights of Way across one of the UK’s most significant protected landscapes.
Works included the removal and replacement of existing dilapidated cladding, remedial works to the structural steel frame, installation of new hot and cold rolled steelwork, application of fire protection systems, structural slab repairs, and the installation of new wall and roof cladding systems. Internal fit-out works were subsequently completed to deliver a fully operational and modernised facility.
The scheme was successfully delivered in collaboration with Peak PM, Bowman Riley, Dudley Consulting Engineers, and specialist supply chain partners, with OGL Construction overseeing programme delivery and site management throughout.
The completed development provides a durable, efficient, and future-ready operational depot that will support the continued maintenance, accessibility, and conservation of the North York Moors National Park for years to come.
