Project Overview
Residential Redevelopment Adjacent to Scheduled Ancient Monument
OGL Construction has been appointed to deliver the redevelopment of Moor Grange, a prestigious residential site located on the southern edge of Ilkley, adjacent to the historic landscape of Rombalds Moor.
The project comprises the demolition of the existing Moor Grange dwelling and the incorporation of the former house plot into the wider landscaped grounds of Overdale. The scheme also includes the construction of a new detached annex and garage building, extensive landscaping works, alterations to the existing driveway arrangement, and the closure of the current access point serving Overdale.
Works commenced on site in January 2026 and are progressing in accordance with the approved programme. Due to the site’s unique setting, a key element of the project is the careful management of works adjacent to a nationally important prehistoric cup and ring stone protected as a Scheduled Ancient Monument. Extensive protection measures, exclusion zones, and controlled construction practices have been implemented to safeguard this significant heritage asset throughout the delivery of the scheme.
The redevelopment has been carefully designed to enhance the functionality and appearance of the estate while preserving the historical and archaeological significance of the surrounding landscape. Construction activities are being undertaken in accordance with an agreed archaeological protection strategy to ensure the monument and its setting remain protected throughout the works.
Upon completion, the scheme will provide high-quality ancillary accommodation, improved access arrangements, and enhanced landscaped grounds, delivering a sensitive and sustainable redevelopment that complements its unique setting within one of Yorkshire’s most historically significant landscapes.
