Construction Update – Harrogate Bus Station

We’re back on site at Harrogate Bus Station, delivering the civils and infrastructure works required for the installation of a new pantograph charging system a critical piece of infrastructure supporting the move to fully electric public transport.

Our infrastructure works are helping power a fleet of 41 battery-electric buses now operated by The Harrogate Bus Company, including Alexander Dennis Enviro400EV double-deckers and Mercedes-Benz eCitaro single-deckers.

Collectively, this infrastructure supports a reduction of over 2,000 tonnes of CO₂ every year, the equivalent of 1,000 cars being removed from the road.

This project highlights how high-quality civil engineering and energy infrastructure can deliver real, measurable environmental benefits helping create quieter streets, cleaner air and a more sustainable transport network across North Yorkshire.

In January 2025, the final vehicles from Transdev’s £21m all-electric investment entered service. Over the past year alone, the fleet has carried millions of passengers and travelled nearly 4 million kilometres one of the most significant years in the operator’s 119-year history.
