Yorkshire Coastliner – Infrastructure Upgrades

OGL Construction was appointed by Transdev Blazefield Ltd to deliver the first phase of works for a new purpose-built bus depot at Rawcliffe, York, providing the infrastructure required to operate, maintain and accommodate a fleet of 27 buses.

The project commenced in September 2022 with the clearance and preparation of the site, including the demolition of existing buildings and structures to create the development platform for the new depot.

Following demolition, OGL’s Civil Engineering Division delivered a comprehensive package of underground infrastructure, including new surface and foul water drainage together with power, water and gas services, establishing the essential utility infrastructure required for the future operation of the depot.

The works also incorporated extensive new external yard areas designed around the operational requirements and vehicle movements of a modern bus depot. Careful coordination of drainage, utilities, levels and external construction was required to create a robust development platform capable of accommodating the client’s fleet and future depot operations.

The scheme brought together demolition, drainage, utility installation and substantial external works within a single coordinated programme, demonstrating OGL’s ability to deliver multi-disciplinary civil engineering and infrastructure packages.

Phase 1 was successfully completed in December 2022, providing Transdev with the infrastructure and external areas required for the development of its new Rawcliffe depot and forming part of OGL’s continuing relationship with the client across its wider operational estate.
