THE PROJECT

Ciceley Commercials – Dumfries

OGL Construction was appointed by Ciceley Commercials Ltd to deliver the comprehensive refurbishment and extension of its existing Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle dealership at Brownrigg Loaning, Dumfries, transforming the facility in line with the latest Mercedes-Benz corporate branding and dealership standards.

With Ciceley Commercials having supplied Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles across the North West and Scotland for more than 50 years, the project represented a significant investment in the existing Dumfries facility and positioned the dealership as one of the first in the UK to adopt the manufacturer’s latest brand identity.

Prior to commencing the main construction works, OGL undertook a detailed structural survey of the existing buildings. This identified underlying structural issues requiring remedial works and alterations to the retained structure. The findings were incorporated into the construction programme, allowing the existing building to be strengthened and adapted as part of the wider redevelopment.

The project included significant structural alterations to the existing dealership, together with the introduction of a new mezzanine floor to increase usable internal accommodation. A new extension was also constructed to provide additional space and improve the overall functionality of the facility.

Internally, the works comprised the comprehensive refurbishment of the dealership’s customer-facing areas, including a redesigned reception and entrance lobby, alongside substantial improvements to the back-of-house, workshop and operational accommodation. The refurbishment was carefully coordinated around the requirements of a working commercial vehicle dealership.

Externally, the scheme incorporated alterations to the existing car park and circulation areas together with extensive associated external works, improving vehicle movements, customer access and the overall appearance of the dealership.

OGL worked closely with Sunderland Peacock throughout the design and construction process, coordinating the refurbishment, structural alterations, extension, internal fit-out and external works to deliver a modernised facility tailored to both Ciceley Commercials’ operational requirements and the latest Mercedes-Benz brand standards.
